FAQs

  • TownLine welcomes beginners! We have a special package designed to give newcomers a solid and safe foundation, which focuses heavily on the ‘get ready’ and ‘be safe’ portions of horsemanship training. All beginners are required to take private lessons until approved to advance to the Academy by a Lead or Master Instructor.

  • Products and subscriptions purchased are non-refundable.

If TownLine is unable to fulfill your scheduled request due to weather or injury, etc, we will offer a makeup opportunity within 30 days.

  • We have a lovely indoor arena and heated lounge, so lessons can usually continue as normal in inclement weather. However, if temperatures drop into the single digits in CLOQUET, or if local safety or weather advisories deem the conditions dangerous, lessons will be cancelled. Our students’ and horses’ safety are top priority. If severe lightning or thunder occurs during a lesson, all students will be asked to dismount, and the lesson will be completed on the ground from our extensive horsemanship curriculum.

  • In order to best serve all our clientele, makeups are not allowed. If you cannot make your scheduled lesson, and you have given your instructor 24 hours’ notice, you may be allowed to schedule a group makeup lesson with the Academy. Limit one occurrence per month and not available to those in the beginner package. Allowed makeups must be used within 30 days of incurrence. Instructors vary monthly for makeup lessons.

  • TownLine is open to its members 24/7.

The Academy and Riding School have seasonal breaks according with the Hermantown ISD schedule (i.e. Christmas Break, Spring Break, etc.)

  • We recommend all riders have a certified ASTM/SEI equestrian helmet and low-heeled riding boots or similar style, both English or Western are acceptable. Beyond the Barn, our local tack and supply partner, is a great source for these. Helmet fittings are also available at TownLine upon request.

Our favorite boot brands are Dublin, Ariat, and Laredo, but as long as you’re safe, it doesn’t matter! Check with your instructor if you’re not sure. Happy Riding!
